  • Understanding Faults: Rock Movement and Geological Displacement
    A fault is a surface, often planar, across which rocks on one side have been displaced relative to rocks on the other side. Most commonly, movement parallel to the fault surface is in a horizontal direction, and one part of the crust moves vertically relative to the other.
