  • P Wave Shadow Zone: Where Earthquakes Are Inaudible
    The part of the Earth that does not receive direct P waves from a quake is the area directly above the quake's epicenter, which is called the P wave shadow zone. This is because P waves travel through the Earth's crust and mantle, and they cannot travel through the liquid outer core. As a result, there is a region around the epicenter where P waves are not detected.
