  • Quartz State of Matter: Solid, Liquid, and Beyond
Quartz can exist in both a crystalline solid and a molten liquid state. Under normal earth surface temperatures, quartz is found as a solid that varies in color from clear to white, yellow, pink, or purple depending on impurities and inclusions. Under intense pressure and high temperature, quartz can melt and form a liquid that glows as it flows under extreme heat.
