  • Mineral Characteristics: Identifying the Unique Exception
    All minerals share the following characteristics:

    - They are naturally occurring.

    - They have a definite chemical composition.

    - They have an orderly internal arrangement of atoms (crystals).

    - They are inorganic.

    The only characteristic that all minerals do not share is that they are not all solid. Mercury, for example, is a mineral that is liquid at room temperature.
