  • Achieving Ultra-Pure Argon: A Production Guide
The following steps could be used to produce the purest argon ever:

Start with commercially available argon gas, which typically has a purity of around 99.999%.

Pass the argon gas through a series of getters to remove impurities such as oxygen, nitrogen, and water vapor. Getters are materials that react with and absorb impurities.

Distill the argon gas to separate it from any remaining impurities. Distillation involves boiling the argon gas and then condensing it, leaving the impurities behind.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 several times to further purify the argon gas.

Finally, pass the argon gas through a cold trap to remove any remaining condensable impurities. A cold trap is a device that cools the gas to a very low temperature, causing the impurities to condense and freeze out.

The resulting argon gas should have a purity of 99.99999% or higher, making it the purest argon ever produced.
