  • Kumquat Origins: Exploring the History of Cultivated Varieties and Hong Kong's Fortunella hindsii
The origin of cultivated kumquat species is not implicated with Hong Kong kumquats. Hong Kong kumquats, scientifically known as Fortunella hindsii, are native to China and were introduced to Hong Kong during the Qing dynasty. Cultivated kumquat species, on the other hand, belong to the genus Fortunella and have a more diverse origin, with some species originating from China and others from Southeast Asia.
