  • Mountaintop Removal Mining: Impact on Wildlife (Including Rattlesnakes)
Mountaintop removal (MTR) is a destructive coal mining practice that involves blasting off the tops of mountains in order to access the coal seams below. This process has multiple detrimental effects on the environment, wildlife, and nearby communities. However, removing rattlesnakes or any specific wildlife species is not an intended impact of mountaintop removal mining. Rather, it can often disrupt ecological balances affecting these and other populations unintentionally.
