* Muscle cells: Muscle cells need a lot of energy for contraction, so they have a high density of mitochondria.
* Nerve cells: Nerve cells require energy to transmit nerve impulses.
* Liver cells: Liver cells are responsible for a wide range of metabolic processes, including detoxification and energy production.
* Sperm cells: Sperm cells need a lot of energy to swim to the egg.
* Kidney cells: Kidney cells have many mitochondria to power their filtration functions.
* Intestinal cells: These cells need energy to actively transport nutrients across their membranes.
In general, any cell with a high metabolic rate, or one that performs many active processes, will have a larger number of mitochondria.
