    How Photocell Sensors Work

    A photocell, or photoresistor, senses ambient light levels. As daylight fades, it detects the drop in illumination and triggers your outdoor lighting system.

    Troubleshooting Common Issues

    1. Wiring and Connections
    Ensure all cables between the photocell and the control board are securely soldered and free from corrosion. Loose or damaged wires can cause intermittent or failed activation.

    2. Power Supply Integrity
    Verify that the lighting system is receiving consistent voltage. A weak or fluctuating power source can prevent the photocell from functioning correctly.

    3. Physical Damage
    Inspect the photocell for cracks or wear. Even minor fractures can disrupt light sensing. If you notice any damage, replace the unit immediately.

    When to Replace

    If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem, or if the sensor shows visible cracks, a replacement is the most reliable solution.
