The Strait‑Line Laser Tape is a high‑precision measuring instrument that emits a visible laser beam directed at a perpendicular wall surface. The device calculates distance by timing the return of the reflected light.
Insert a fresh 9‑V battery. Remove the battery compartment door, snap the connector onto the battery, slide it into the slot, and replace the cover.
Place the unit at the location you wish to measure. For example, lay a 2‑by‑4 board on the floor, set one end against a solid vertical wall, then set the laser tape on the board. Press the FT/M button to toggle units: FT displays feet and inches; M shows meters.
Aim the front of the laser tape toward the wall. Press Read to capture the distance. While moving the unit along a surface, hold Read and the display will update in real time.
Press the button marked with an “L” to enable area mode. Position the tape at the farthest point from the wall, press Read once to record the first (length) measurement.
Wait for the “W” indicator to flash, then press Read again for the second (width) measurement. The unit will automatically compute and display the total area.
The Strait‑Line Laser Tape cannot accurately measure through glass; the beam may pass through, but glass significantly reduces the reflected signal.
Never look directly into the laser beam. The device emits a bright beam capable of causing permanent eye damage.
