  • Understanding Ammeters: Measuring Electrical Current in Circuits
The instrument used to measure current flowing in a circuit is an ammeter.

    Here's why:

    * Ammeters are designed to measure the flow of electrical charge (current) through a circuit. They are connected in series with the component you want to measure the current through. This means the current flows *through* the ammeter.

    * Voltmeters, on the other hand, are used to measure the potential difference (voltage) across a component. They are connected in parallel with the component. This means the current flows *around* the voltmeter.

Remember: Always connect an ammeter in series and a voltmeter in parallel with the component you're measuring.
