Although LeapFrog offers several interactive Leapster learning products, “Tag” refers to a line of children’s reading products separate from Leapster. LeapFrog has designed two Tag products to help children with reading: Tag Junior reader for children ages 2 to 4, and Tag reader--standard and school editions--for older children. Tag products receive power from two AAA alkaline batteries. No matter which model of Tag you have, the method to access the battery compartment and get batteries in your Tag is nearly identical.
Push the “On/Off” button on your LeapFrog Tag Junior or Tag reader to turn it off.
Hold the Tag with the back facing you and look for a screw.
Push in on the screw with a flat-edged screwdriver, or the edge of a small coin, and turn the screw counterclockwise to unlock the battery compartment cover.
Remove the battery compartment cover from your Tag and set it aside.
Insert two new AAA alkaline batteries so that the polarity marks on the batteries match the marks inside the compartment. If you have the Tag Junior, push and hold the tab marked with an arrow in the direction that the arrow points, insert the batteries, then release the tab when finished.
Return the cover to your Tag. Secure the cover by turning the screw clockwise until you meet resistance.
If the batteries don’t work after getting them into the Tag, reopen the compartment and check that the polarity marks match. If the marks match, remove the batteries, wipe the contacts with a soft eraser and dry cloth, reinsert the batteries and try using the Tag again. Never mix old and new batteries, battery brands or rechargeable batteries with rechargeable batteries.
