* Live Wire (Hot Wire): This wire carries the electrical current from the power source. It's typically black or red in color.
* Neutral Wire: This wire provides a return path for the current back to the power source. It's typically white or gray in color.
Why two wires?
Electricity flows in a closed loop, like a circle. The live wire carries the electrical current to the device, and the neutral wire carries the current back to the source, completing the loop. This allows the electricity to flow and power the device.
Important Note: The ground wire (typically green or bare copper) is also an important safety feature, but it is not necessary for the flow of electricity. It provides a path for current to flow to the ground in case of a fault, preventing electrical shock.
