The International CES, which opens Tuesday and runs through Friday, will feature more than 3,600 exhibitors showing off their latest wares, including 20,000 new products. Many of the gadgets on display will fall within five categories: 3-D printing, wearable technology, home automation, ultra-HD TVs and connected cars.
Here’s a look at what to expect at CES 2015:
3-D PRINTING: 3-D printers have been around for a few years, but they’ve been too expensive for most consumers. That’s changing, with new models expected to be priced under $1,000. These printers will make it possible for people to create their own objects, from toys and jewelry to household items.
WEARABLE TECHNOLOGY: Wearable technology, such as smartwatches and fitness trackers, is expected to be one of the hottest trends at CES. New models will offer more features and functionality, and they’ll be more stylish and comfortable to wear.
HOME AUTOMATION: Home automation products, such as smart thermostats and light bulbs, are also expected to be big at CES. These products can be controlled remotely using a smartphone or tablet, making it easier to manage your home’s energy use and security.
ULTRA-HD TVS: Ultra-HD TVs, also known as 4K TVs, offer four times the resolution of traditional HDTVs. They’re expected to become more affordable in 2015, making them a more attractive option for consumers.
CONNECTED CARS: Connected cars are cars that are equipped with Internet access and other features that allow them to communicate with other devices. New models of connected cars will offer more advanced features, such as self-driving capabilities and remote diagnostics.
In addition to these five categories, CES will also feature a variety of other gadgets, including drones, virtual reality headsets and robots. With so many new products to choose from, consumers are sure to find something that catches their eye at CES 2015.
