Walmart has considered exploring this approach. In fact, in 2015, it filed a patent for a service that would allow customers to give the retailer access to their homes so that its workers could put away their groceries for them. However, there has been no further update on the patent ever since and Walmart didn’t seem very serious about exploring it either .

The move was likely met with opposition from customers who were concerned about potential safety and security vulnerabilities if their homes were granted unsupervised access. In any case, the patent never materialized into any actual services that customers could sign up for and there seem to be no indication of intent to explore its development any further as well.
