Earlier this year, Comcast announced its new Xfinity Flex streaming device, which offers access to a variety of live TV channels, as well as streaming content from apps like Netflix, Hulu and YouTube. The device is free for Xfinity internet customers and costs $5 per month for non-Xfinity customers.
In addition to the Xfinity Flex device, Comcast is also offering a variety of other promotions and discounts to entice customers to stay with cable or to return to cable. These promotions include:
* Free trials of premium channels like HBO and Showtime.
* Discounts on bundled services that include cable, internet and phone.
* Free streaming devices or gift cards for new customers.
Comcast is hoping that these offers will help to offset the losses it is experiencing due to cord-cutting. In the first quarter of 2019, Comcast lost 128,000 video customers, a number that is expected to continue to grow in the coming years.
As more and more people cut the cord, cable companies like Comcast will need to continue to innovate and adapt to the changing landscape of the television industry.
