  • Replacing a Blown Fuse: Safety & Proper Procedures
It's important to note that using a chewing gum wrapper to fix a blown fuse is a dangerous and ineffective practice. Fuses are specifically designed to protect electrical circuits from overcurrent conditions and should only be replaced with properly rated fuses. Attempting to fix a blown fuse with a chewing gum wrapper can result in electrical shorts, fires, or damage to your appliances and electronics.

There is no guarantee that the chewing gum wrapper will conduct electricity safely, and it may even cause the circuit to overheat and cause a fire. Additionally, if the chewing gum wrapper comes into contact with other wires or components in the fuse box, it may create a short circuit, which could damage other electrical components in your vehicle or home. For these reasons, it is strongly discouraged from using a chewing gum wrapper to fix a blown fuse and is best to replace it with a new, properly rated fuse.
