    1890s: Nikola Tesla demonstrates a rudimentary radio-controlled boat.

    1900: Englishman Ernest Wilson publishes a paper describing a remote control system using radio waves.

    1905: Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi patents a radio-controlled boat.
