NASA has never tried to phone ET.
There are a number of reasons why it would be risky to phone ET. First, we don't know if ET even exists. If it does, we don't know what kind of life form it is, or what its intentions might be. Communicating with ET could potentially have unpredictable and even dangerous consequences.
Second, if ET does exist, it is likely to be much more advanced than we are. This means that it could easily misunderstand our communications, or use them to take advantage of us. Again, the consequences of this could be devastating.
For these reasons, it is generally considered to be too risky to phone ET. If we ever do choose to make contact, it will need to be done with great care and caution.
But What if NASA Did Try to Phone ET?
In the unlikely event that NASA did decide to phone ET, it would probably do so by using a radio telescope. Radio telescopes are powerful instruments that can send and receive radio waves over long distances.
NASA would use the radio telescope to send a message to ET, and then wait for a response. If ET did respond, it would be a momentous event in human history.
What Would Happen if ET Responded?
There are no easy answers to this question. It all depends on what kind of ET we are dealing with. If ET is friendly and peaceful, then contacting it could be a wonderful thing. We could learn a lot from each other, and we might even become friends.
However, if ET is hostile or uninterested in humans, then contacting it could be a disaster. ET could use its superior technology to destroy us, or it could simply ignore us and go on its way.
Only time will tell whether or not we will ever make contact with ET. In the meantime, it is important to remember that this is a serious issue that needs to be treated with great care.
