  • M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle: Capabilities & History
The M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle is a tracked, armored vehicle designed and manufactured by the United States for use by the United States Army, United States Marine Corps, and several other countries. It is named in honor of General Omar Bradley, who served as the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Bradley is designed to transport infantry and provide them with fire support during combat operations.

The M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle consists of two main components:

    * The chassis, which includes the engine, transmission, suspension, and tracks

    * The turret, which houses the main gun, a coaxial machine gun, and a missile launcher

The Bradley is powered by a Cummins VTA-903T diesel engine that produces 600 horsepower. The engine is coupled to a General Electric HMPT-500-3 hydromechanical transmission, which provides the vehicle with four forward gears and two reverse gears. The Bradley has a maximum speed of 40 mph and a cruising range of 300 miles.

The Bradley's suspension system consists of a torsion bar suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers. The tracks are made of rubber and steel, and they are designed to provide the vehicle with good traction and stability on a variety of terrain.

The Bradley's turret is made of aluminum and steel armor, and it is designed to protect the crew from enemy fire. The turret houses a 25 mm M242 Bushmaster chain gun, a 7.62 mm M240C coaxial machine gun, and a TOW missile launcher. The Bushmaster chain gun can fire up to 200 rounds per minute, while the M240C machine gun can fire up to 800 rounds per minute. The TOW missile launcher can fire up to four TOW missiles, which have a range of up to 3,750 meters.

The Bradley also has a number of other features that make it suitable for combat operations, including:

    * A laser rangefinder, which is used to determine the distance to enemy targets

    * A thermal imaging system, which is used to allow the crew to see in low-light conditions

    * A navigation system, which is used to help the crew navigate the battlefield

    * A communication system, which is used to allow the crew to communicate with other vehicles and units

The Bradley Fighting Vehicle is a versatile and powerful combat vehicle that has been used by the United States military in a number of conflicts, including the Gulf War and the Iraq War. It is also used by a number of other countries around the world.
