  • Rubidium Iodide (RbI): Understanding the Ionic Bond
Rubidium (Rb) is an alkali metal and iodine (I) is a halogen. Alkali metals readily lose one electron to form a +1 cation, while halogens readily gain one electron to form a -1 anion. This results in the formation of an ionic bond between rubidium and iodine.

The resulting compound is rubidium iodide (RbI).
