  • Homogeneous vs. Heterogeneous Solutions: Understanding Salt Water
Salt water solution is homogeneous. Here's why:

    * Homogeneous mixtures have a uniform composition throughout. This means that the salt is evenly distributed in the water, and you can't easily distinguish the individual components.

    * Heterogeneous mixtures have distinct components that are not evenly distributed. You can see the different parts of the mixture.

When salt dissolves in water, the salt ions become evenly dispersed throughout the water molecules. You can't see the individual salt particles, and the solution looks and tastes the same throughout.
