  • Chemical vs. Physical Properties: Understanding Density
Density is not a chemical property. It is a physical property.

    Here's why:

    * Chemical properties describe how a substance reacts or changes its composition when interacting with other substances. For example, flammability, reactivity with acids, and oxidation state are chemical properties.

    * Physical properties can be observed or measured without changing the substance's chemical composition. Density, boiling point, melting point, color, and texture are examples of physical properties.

Density is a measure of how much mass is contained within a given volume. It can be determined without changing the substance's chemical makeup.
