  • LPG Gas: Mixture or Compound? Understanding Liquefied Petroleum Gas
LPG gas (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is a mixture of hydrocarbons, primarily propane and butane.

    Here's why:

    * Elements are the simplest pure substances, made up of only one type of atom (like oxygen, carbon, or hydrogen).

    * Compounds are formed by the chemical combination of two or more elements in a fixed ratio (like water, H₂O, or carbon dioxide, CO₂).

    * Mixtures are combinations of two or more substances where each substance retains its own properties and can be separated by physical means.

LPG gas is a mixture because it contains both propane (C₃H₈) and butane (C₄H₁₀), which are separate compounds, and they can be separated by physical methods like distillation.
