  • Neutralization Reaction: What Happens When HCl and KOH React?
When hydrochloric acid (HCl) and potassium hydroxide (KOH) are mixed, no gas is given off.

This reaction is a neutralization reaction, where an acid and a base react to form salt and water:

HCl (aq) + KOH (aq) → KCl (aq) + H₂O (l)

The products are potassium chloride (KCl), a salt that dissolves in water, and water (H₂O).
