    * Ceramic material: Aluminum oxide is a very hard and durable ceramic material used in various applications like abrasives, refractories, and in the production of ceramics and glasses.

    * Catalyst: Aluminum oxide is a common catalyst and catalyst support in various chemical processes.

    * Gemstone: Corundum, the crystalline form of aluminum oxide, exists in two gemstone forms: ruby (red) and sapphire (blue).
