  • Sodium Chloride Formation: Neutralization of Hydrochloric Acid with Sodium Hydroxide
When hydrochloric acid (HCl) is neutralized by sodium hydroxide (NaOH), the salt formed is sodium chloride (NaCl).

Here's the chemical equation for the reaction:

HCl (aq) + NaOH (aq) → NaCl (aq) + H₂O (l)

This reaction is a classic example of an acid-base neutralization reaction. The hydrogen ions (H+) from the acid react with the hydroxide ions (OH-) from the base to form water (H₂O). The remaining ions, sodium (Na+) and chloride (Cl-), combine to form the salt, sodium chloride.
