  • Neon Gas and Its Orange-Red Glow: The Science Behind Neon Signs
The noble gas that gives off an orange-red color when electricity is passed through it is Neon.

Neon signs are a classic example of this phenomenon. When an electric current passes through neon gas, the electrons in the neon atoms get excited to higher energy levels. As they return to their ground state, they release energy in the form of light, which is primarily orange-red in color.
