* LiOH (Lithium hydroxide) is already a strong base. It's highly soluble in water.
* H₂O (Water) is the solvent in this case.
What happens when LiOH is dissolved in water:
When LiOH is added to water, it dissociates (breaks apart) into its ions:
LiOH (s) → Li⁺ (aq) + OH⁻ (aq)
* Li⁺ (Lithium ion) is a positively charged ion.
* OH⁻ (Hydroxide ion) is a negatively charged ion.
No new compound is formed. The LiOH simply dissolves in the water, forming an aqueous solution of lithium and hydroxide ions.
Important Note: This solution is strongly basic due to the presence of hydroxide ions.
