  • pH Scale Explained: Understanding Acidity and Hydrogen Ions
    A solution with a pH of 5 will be more acidic. Here's why:

    * The pH scale is logarithmic: This means that each whole number change in pH represents a tenfold change in acidity or alkalinity.

    * Lower pH = More acidic: A lower pH indicates a higher concentration of hydrogen ions (H+), which are what make a solution acidic.

    In this case, a pH of 5 has ten times more hydrogen ions than a pH of 6, making it ten times more acidic.
