  • Water's Structure: Molecular Nature Explained
Pure water is molecular. Here's why:

    * Monatomic: This refers to a substance composed of single atoms, like Helium (He) or Neon (Ne). Water is not monatomic.

    * Lattice: A lattice refers to a repeating, three-dimensional structure of atoms or molecules. While water can form a crystalline lattice structure (ice), pure water at room temperature exists as a liquid.

    * Molecular: Water (H₂O) is a molecule, meaning it's composed of two or more atoms bonded together. In this case, two hydrogen atoms are bonded to one oxygen atom.

In summary: Pure water exists as individual water molecules, making it a molecular substance.
