  • Diatomic Molecules: Understanding Covalent Bonds of Same Elements
A covalent bond consisting of two atoms of the same element is called a diatomic molecule.

    Here are some examples:

    * Hydrogen (H₂): Two hydrogen atoms share a single pair of electrons.

    * Oxygen (O₂): Two oxygen atoms share two pairs of electrons (a double bond).

    * Nitrogen (N₂): Two nitrogen atoms share three pairs of electrons (a triple bond).

    * Chlorine (Cl₂): Two chlorine atoms share a single pair of electrons.

These molecules are very common and play important roles in many chemical reactions and processes.
