    Temperature:

    * Optimal temperature: Each enzyme has an optimal temperature at which it functions most efficiently. This is often close to the normal body temperature of the organism.

    * Increased temperature: Within a certain range, increasing temperature increases the rate of enzyme activity. This is because higher temperatures increase the kinetic energy of molecules, leading to more frequent collisions and a higher chance of successful reactions.

    * Denaturation: Beyond the optimal temperature, however, the structure of the enzyme begins to break down (denaturation). This happens because the increased heat disrupts the weak bonds holding the enzyme's shape together, causing it to lose its active site and its ability to function.

    pH:

    * Optimal pH: Enzymes also have an optimal pH range at which they function best. This is often specific to the environment in which they operate (e.g., stomach enzymes function well in acidic environments).

    * Deviation from optimal pH: Changes in pH, either more acidic or more alkaline, can cause the enzyme to denature. This happens because the pH affects the charge of the amino acids in the enzyme, potentially disrupting the shape of the active site and making it unable to bind to its substrate.
