  • Photosynthesis Reactants: CO2, Water & Light Explained
    The reactants for photosynthesis are:

    * Carbon dioxide (CO2): This is absorbed from the atmosphere through tiny openings in the leaves called stomata.

    * Water (H2O): This is absorbed from the soil through the roots of the plant.

    * Light energy: This comes from the sun and is captured by chlorophyll, a green pigment found in the chloroplasts of plant cells.

These reactants are used to produce glucose (a type of sugar) and oxygen (O2).
