  • Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide in Respiration: A Simple Explanation
The two gases involved in respiration are oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2).

Here's how they play a role:

    * Oxygen (O2): We breathe in oxygen, which is transported by the blood to our cells. Cells use oxygen in a process called cellular respiration to produce energy (ATP).

    * Carbon dioxide (CO2): Cellular respiration produces carbon dioxide as a waste product. The blood carries this carbon dioxide back to the lungs, where we exhale it.
