    ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is actually a nucleotide, not a compound in the traditional sense. It consists of three main components:

    1. Adenine: A nitrogenous base, a type of organic molecule that contains nitrogen.

    2. Ribose: A five-carbon sugar, a type of carbohydrate.

    3. Triphosphate: A chain of three phosphate groups.

    These three components are linked together in a specific way: the adenine is attached to the ribose sugar, and the triphosphate group is attached to the ribose sugar. This combination gives ATP its unique structure and properties.

    Therefore, ATP is not a single compound but rather a complex molecule formed by the combination of these three components.
