  • What is an Alloy? Definition, Examples & Properties
    A combination of two different metals bonded together is called an alloy.

    Here are some examples of alloys:

    * Brass (copper and zinc)

    * Bronze (copper and tin)

    * Steel (iron and carbon)

    * Stainless steel (iron, chromium, nickel)

    * Pewter (tin, lead, antimony, copper)

    Alloys are often made to improve the properties of the individual metals. For example, brass is harder and more durable than copper, and steel is stronger and less brittle than iron.
