    Spokes on wheels are made of metal primarily for these reasons:

    * Flexibility and Resilience: Metal can flex and bend under pressure, which helps to absorb shocks and impacts without breaking. This is especially important for bicycles, where spokes need to absorb the force of rough terrain.

    * Light Weight: While steel is heavy, other metals like aluminum or titanium can be used to create lighter spokes. This is crucial for bicycles, where lighter weight means better performance.

    Why not other materials?
