  • Gases in the Miller-Urey Experiment: Beyond Hydrogen
    The gases used in the Miller-Urey experiment, besides hydrogen (H2), were:

    * Methane (CH4)

    * Ammonia (NH3)

    * Water vapor (H2O)

    These gases were chosen because they were thought to be present in Earth's early atmosphere. The experiment simulated the conditions of early Earth, including lightning strikes, which were represented by electric sparks.
