    2. Basic Oxides:

    * Definition: Basic oxides are oxides that react with water to form bases. They usually dissolve in water to release hydroxide ions (OH-).

    * Characteristics:

    * Metal oxides are generally basic oxides, except for oxides of some transition metals.

    * They have a high melting point.

    * They react with acids to form salt and water.

    * Examples:

    * Na2O (Sodium Oxide): Na2O + H2O → 2NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide)

    * K2O (Potassium Oxide): K2O + H2O → 2KOH (Potassium Hydroxide)

    Amphoteric Oxides:
