  • Naturally Occurring Metals: Sources & Examples
    It's not accurate to say metals are "found naturally". Metals are generally found in minerals, which are naturally occurring solid inorganic substances with a defined chemical composition and a crystalline structure. These minerals are then extracted and processed to obtain the pure metals.

    Here are some common examples of metals found in minerals:

    * Aluminum: Found in bauxite

    * Iron: Found in hematite, magnetite, and goethite

    * Copper: Found in chalcopyrite, bornite, and chalcocite

    * Gold: Found in native gold and sometimes in other sulfides

    * Silver: Found in argentite and other sulfides

    * Lead: Found in galena

    * Zinc: Found in sphalerite

    * Titanium: Found in ilmenite and rutile

    * Manganese: Found in pyrolusite

    * Nickel: Found in pentlandite and garnierite

    * Tin: Found in cassiterite

    This is not an exhaustive list, as there are many more metals and minerals that contain them.

    It's also important to note that some metals, like gold, can be found in their native form, meaning they are not chemically bonded to other elements. However, these occurrences are relatively rare.
