  • Fluorine: The Most Reactive Halogen - Chemical Properties & Reactivity
    The most chemically active of all the halogens is fluorine (F).

    Here's why:

    * Electronegativity: Fluorine has the highest electronegativity of all elements. This means it has a strong attraction for electrons, making it highly reactive.

    * Small size: Fluorine is the smallest halogen. This small size means its electrons are held tightly, making it difficult to remove them, and thus, it readily gains an electron to form a stable anion.

    * Weak F-F bond: The bond between two fluorine atoms is relatively weak, making it easier to break and form new bonds with other elements.

    These factors combine to make fluorine the most reactive of the halogens.
