  • Carbon Monoxide (CO): Understanding Its Neutrality
CO (carbon monoxide) is a neutral oxide.

    Here's why:

    * Neutral oxides are oxides that do not react with either acids or bases.

    * Acidic oxides react with bases to form salts and water.

    * Basic oxides react with acids to form salts and water.

CO does not readily react with either acids or bases to form salts and water. It is therefore considered neutral.
