  • Molecular Formulas: Iron(III) Hydroxide (Fe(OH)₃) and Perchloric Acid (HClO₄)
    Here's how to determine the molecular formulas:

    Iron(III) Hydroxide

    * Iron(III) indicates the iron ion has a +3 charge: Fe³⁺

    * Hydroxide is the polyatomic ion OH⁻ with a -1 charge.

    * To balance the charges, we need three hydroxide ions for every iron ion.

    * Molecular formula: Fe(OH)₃

    Perchloric Acid

    * Perchloric acid is a strong acid with the formula HClO₄.

    Note: The term "molecular formula" is generally used for covalent compounds. While perchloric acid is an ionic compound, the formula HClO₄ is still commonly referred to as its molecular formula.
