  • Covalent Compounds: Properties & Characteristics Explained
Here are two properties of covalent compounds:

    1. Low melting and boiling points: Covalent bonds are generally weaker than ionic bonds. This means less energy is required to break the bonds between molecules, resulting in lower melting and boiling points compared to ionic compounds.

    2. Poor electrical conductivity: Covalent compounds typically do not conduct electricity in either the solid or liquid state. This is because the electrons in covalent bonds are localized between the atoms, making it difficult for them to carry an electrical current.
