  • Hydrogen Atom Electrons: Understanding Electron Sharing
A hydrogen atom only has one electron. It doesn't really "share" electrons in the same way that atoms in a covalent bond do.

    Here's why:

    * Hydrogen only has one proton and one electron. This means it only has space for one electron in its single electron shell.

    * Hydrogen can form a covalent bond with another atom. This means it will share its single electron with another atom, forming a shared pair of electrons. This is how it forms molecules like H₂O (water).

So, while hydrogen can share its electron in a covalent bond, it doesn't *have* multiple electrons to share.
