  • Hydrogen: Element or Mixture? Understanding Its Composition
Hydrogen is not a mixture at all. It is a pure element.

    Here's why:

    * Elements are the simplest forms of matter that cannot be broken down into simpler substances by chemical means. Hydrogen (H) is an element.

    * Mixtures are combinations of two or more substances where each substance retains its own properties. Mixtures can be heterogeneous (unevenly distributed) or homogeneous (evenly distributed).

Since hydrogen is a pure element, it cannot be a mixture.
