  • Understanding Blood Composition: What's in Blood?
There's no single chemical formula for blood. Blood is a complex mixture of many different components, including:

    * Plasma: This is the liquid part of blood, made up mostly of water but also containing dissolved substances like proteins, electrolytes, glucose, and waste products.

    * Red blood cells: These cells carry oxygen throughout the body. They contain the protein hemoglobin, which binds to oxygen.

    * White blood cells: These cells help fight infection and disease.

    * Platelets: These small cell fragments help stop bleeding.

Because of this complex composition, it's impossible to represent blood with a single chemical formula.
