  • Calcium Chloride Solubility: Hot vs. Cold Water Explained
The metallic chloride that is soluble in hot water but insoluble in cold water is calcium chloride (CaCl₂) .

    Here's why:

    * Solubility and Temperature: Solubility is the ability of a substance (solute) to dissolve in another substance (solvent). For many solids, solubility increases with temperature.

    * Calcium Chloride: Calcium chloride is a salt that exhibits this behavior. Its solubility in water increases dramatically as the water temperature rises. In cold water, it has limited solubility, but in hot water, it dissolves readily.

Note: There are other metallic chlorides that have some temperature dependence on their solubility, but calcium chloride is a classic example.
