  • Ferrous Metals: Properties, Types, and Applications
Ferrous metals are those that contain iron (Fe) as a primary component. Here are some common ferrous metals:

    * Iron (Fe): The most common ferrous metal.

    * Steel: An alloy of iron with carbon and other elements.

    * Cast Iron: A type of iron alloy with high carbon content.

    * Stainless Steel: A type of steel alloy with high chromium content for corrosion resistance.

    * Wrought Iron: A type of iron with a very low carbon content.

Other metals containing iron in their composition:

    * Nickel-Iron Alloys: Used in magnets and other applications.

    * Cobalt-Iron Alloys: Used in magnets and other applications.

    * Iron Oxides: Used in pigments, paints, and other applications.

Note: Some alloys containing iron may not be considered ferrous if the iron content is low or if other elements dominate the properties of the alloy.
